Hand dyeing the fabrics to get the kind of graded shading I wanted was a challenge. I fringed the squares and embellished each one with beads, crystals, yarns, lace trims, sketches, appliqués. The underlying thrust was to get the feeling of flowers and leaves, dew and earth, spider webs and moonlight. A segue from earth to sky, from indoors to outdoors.
This piece was meant for my daughter's breakfast room overlooking her garden.
